Identifying these students requires a multi-faceted approach, including formal and informal assessments, teacher observations, and psychological evaluations. This workshop will provide special education teachers the opportunity to collaborate with other special educators in order to create/edit lessons, assessments, IEPs, and, ultimately, work together to better their teaching. The session will consist of strategies that can be used in the classroom. It is recommended that participants come as a team or from the same district.

This workshop will review components of New Jersey Special Education code NJ6A:14. Participants will have the opportunity to review case scenarios involving components of special education code so as to increase understanding and interpretation of the code. In addition, participants will have a more comprehensive understanding of how to interpret special education code.

This workshop will review essential components of the IEP with samples of legally defensible statements. This will review all areas with the exception of goals and objectives which will be part two of this series. Attendees will be reviewing their existing IEP verbiage with work sessions to understand how to refine those sections.

This workshop will review essential components of the IEP with samples of legally defensible statements. The participants will be reviewing goals and objectives in IEPs and reviewing and refining their process for making goals more specific, measurable, and defensible to justify student progress.
