This workshop explores ways to integrate released state-test items into your teaching repertoire. Delve into the provided resources to gain valuable insights into assessment expectations, question formats, and content as well as to build a collection of questions that you can use in your classroom. Utilizing released items can help when teaching students valuable test-taking strategies and reinforcing your content. Together we will explore ways to use these questions to supplement your current teaching. Learn by failing forward: Help students deliver powerful two-minute speeches with no notes.

These speeches will require students to use course content—no matter the discipline—to express their understanding of the world. To instruct teachers in this methodology, known as Two Minutes to Mastery, teachers can expect to brainstorm prompts and deliver 30-second speeches in a low-stakes environment with an emphasis on experimentation and learning by doing. Hopefully, teachers will bond as they learn collaboratively how to help students become confident public speakers, a process that will also deepen students’ content mastery.

UDL Meets AI: Enhancing Learning For All Students

The session will provide educators the space in which to explore the intersection of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and artificial intelligence (AI). Participants will learn about the principles of UDL, unpack UDL guidelines, and discover the cutting-edge applications of AI that enhance and support UDL in practical, time-saving ways - this includes using AI to promote accessibility, engagement, and personalized learning experiences. The day’s takeaways will  include a practical and technology-infused approach to creating inclusive and highly effective learning environments for all students.

Understanding Special Education Code NJ6A:14

Participants will have the opportunity to review case scenarios involving components of special education code so as to increase understanding and interpretation of the code. Educators who participate in this full-day workshop at The Art School at Old Church will learn how hands-on experiences of painting, printmaking, ceramics, and jewelry-making develop advanced levels of thinking, described in Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK) framework. Participants will make art in a variety of media, reflect on processes and outcomes, and be able to devise art experiences for their students that emphasize strategic and extended thinking.

This workshop is designed to help educators navigate the murky waters of artificial intelligence. With the emergence of AI and the plethora of challenges it brings about for educators, the group will explore ways to incorporate a variety of AI tools in the classroom. By looking at a number of AI platforms that will benefit both students and teachers alike, this workshop hopes to give educators a better understanding of how AI can be meaningfully integrated into their daily routines.
